Review: L'oreal Paris Shine Caresse Lip Stain/Gloss (YSL Glossy Stain Dupe)

Introducing the hottest new thing to hit the beauty market that has been raved about overseas for quite some months as the closest dupe to YSL's famous Glossy Stains. Recently I went into Priceline after finding out that the L'oreal Paris Shine Caresse Lip Stain/Gloss had hit the Aussie shores. Feeling a bit povo lately, I only picked up the one colour, in the shade 200 Princess (note that Australia seems to have it's own unique shades which are different to the UK/US). I'm super excited to try this product as I was just discussing with a friend a few weeks ago about how no one really wears lip glosses anymore, we've moved into the lipstick phases of our lives. Well...maybe not!

UPDATE: Bought another colour 102 "Romy" so added my thoughts and some pics

Review after the jump!

Packaging: Very classy and easy to identify colour quickly without opening the product

Colour:
Princess: Found that the colour on the outside looked like a gorgeous bright coral however once applied to the lips (although 1 swipe created a beautiful even bright colour) came out much darker and red than expected - see below.
Romy: Likewise to Princess I have found that the colour in the packaging is much lighter and goes on initially quite light and then progressively dries into a deeper darker more red shade than originally applied (in a good way!). It ultimately is a lovely slightly deeper than natural pink which is easy to wear for both casual and fancy occasions.

L'oreal Paris Shine Caresse - Romy

Effect: Lovely mix between gloss and stain, on first application is quite glossy however still a thin layer and not remotely sticky like old school lip glosses and over the first 30 minutes dries (while still remaining moisturising) to become a long lasting lip stain.

Longevity: Held up well over light eating with 1 reapplication through the night.

Overall: Love the product for it's effect but mildly disappointed by the unexpected colour development, however when going back to buy more, it will help with future purchases. Also quite pricey for a drugstore brand, at $23.95 RRP but definitely a new 'fad' that i'll be certainly be enjoying in the coming months!
