Rimmel Precious Stones Nail Polish

Hello fellow beauty buffs. So I'm currently blogging from the beautiful sunshine state on holidays visiting my folks, spending time by the pool, soaking up the sun, and painting my nails in my new favourite glittery christmas shade! (and reliving my childhood love of glitter polish!)

Rimmel recently released their new holiday collection named Precious Stones appropriately, and comes in 2 shades:

  • 002 Ruby Crush
  • 001 Diamond Dust

And since they are a girl's best friend, who was I to say no to trying Diamonds?! And thus, a blog review was born...

Rimmen London Precious Stones High Coverage Glitter Nail Polish in
 001 Diamond Dust

Formulation:
1 coat of Diamond Dust
- 2 different sizes of glitter makes the formulation a bit thicker than your average nail polish however once dried, any unevenness in application is untraceable
- 1 coat is very sheer - see picture but somehow on the 2nd coat, it builds to a intense all over glitter coverage
- The finish is a very rough texture, it definitely does not produce a smooth glossy finish (even with top coat) however I think it creates a nice 3 dimensional effect and I like being able to feel the rough glitter but it might not be for everyone

Colour:
- Best described as Gunmetal Grey fine glitter mixed with Silver/"Diamond" chunky glitter, very highly reflective!
- Complete coverage nail polish, no need for coloured undercoat as you wont see it!

Brush:
Final product - 2 coats of Diamond Dust
+ Revlon Quick Dry Top Coat
- not stated but very similar to the other 1 second Rimmel brushes which I so love

Price:
- again, typical Rimmel style, very affordable at only ~$7.95AUD (Not 100% sure, I threw out the receipt eek!)

Longevity/Removal:
- Long lasting - went an entire week (6 days) and barely chipped at all, the only reason I took it off was to try something different
- now here's the negative...it was IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE...15 minutes of soaking my fingers in acetone/remover and I still had to spend forever trying to get every last piece of glitter off my fingernails not not mention the number of cotton pads that it tore through...definitely puts me off using it regularly!

Overall Impression:
- great novelty glitter polish with high coverage for the holiday season (or anytime of the year if you're like me...there's a reason my pseudonym is Sparkle!)
- formulation could be a bit more even/smooth to apply and easier to remove

Hope this helps anyone who wants an affordable kitschy new polish over Christmas-time,

x Sparkle/Alina
