Changing my eyeshapes courtesy of Promise Phan

Today's post was inspired by Promise Phan - she posted video where she shows Changing Eye Shapes with Eyeliner and I just HAD to try this out for myself :) It is both a way to show you how to transform your eye shape into something else, and also to show you different looks that you can try on your own eyes. Would be great as a reference if I ever wanted to try to attempt a celebrity face-imitation-look-thing.

A summary of Promise's 4 eyeliner shape looks:
#1 round - line both top and bottom with more width across the centre of the eye
#2 upwards - upward wing, tapered eye liner across the bottom outer half
#3 elongated - outward wing, tapered eye liner across whole bottom lash line, add black pencil into waterline
#4 droopy - downward wing, bottom lash line as follows: starts below lash line in outer half, joining with lash line inner half.

Here's my attempt at these looks on my own eyes:

Full face after the jump!

Ooops, I forgot to do a full face shot of "#4 droopy"... it looked pretty bad anyhow :/

Conclusions
I am no liquid liner expert (this took me AGES). also, Dollywink's liquid liner (used for #1, #2, #4) is more precise, good for detail work and easier to modify when you make mistakes as compared with Stila's liquid liner (used for #3), which is easier to use to fill in large areas & fill the skin close to the lash line and thus is "faster" to use, but it is difficult to correct mistakes with this felt tip pen.

I don't like "round" at all, it's hard to put my finger on, but it just looks wrong to me.

"Upwards" is a fresh look which lifts up the eyes! I need more practice learning how to deal with my puffy hooded eyes and knowing what angle of liner will actually look UP on my face once my eyes are open.

"Elongated" is the closest to the look I usually do and also is my favourite out of these looks. I like black on the waterline - having the black go right into the eyes looks so much more polished. I don't usually line my waterline with black because a) I thought it would make my eyes look smaller but I don't think it does? and b) anything on the waterline tends to migrate to the skin just below the eye but perhaps I just haven't found the right liner yet!

"Droopy" is intriguing but not quite there yet... I need to work on my technique for that one as I don't think I brought the line out and down quite far enough. It's a very popular look in Korea / Japan, the cute, innocent, doe-eyed, sleepy look. Will work on this!

What do you think? Which looks do you like on your eye? :) Link me up if you try it out, I would love to see! The reference video from Promise Phan is here: Changing Eye Shapes with Eyeliner
