Toni and Guy Deep Conditioning Reconstruction Hair Mask

Hey all you beauty lovers,

So for any of you who have been following my posts lately, I've been overseas for the last 2 months, and let me tell you, while I was loving the opportunity and the excitement of a new place, I was very much missing my luxuries from home including all of my beauty pampering. My hair definitely took a beating while we were away, it's already about 5 months late for a haircut and ridiculously long mixed in with the long tuktuk rides which picked up dust and dirt from the road and being constantly stressed by extreme weather, it was definitely not looking it's finest. I tried to remedy this by buying a hair mask from the local supermarket so help rehydrate my hair slightly but apparently, not all masks were made the same, as such, I bring you this review on my favourite hair mask which I'm rediscovering now that I'm back in the country!

I cannot speak any more highly of the new Toni and Guy range, it smells delicious yet also mature and not floral (I hate when my hair products interfere with my perfume) and works so well. The Pantene Pro-V mask I tried in Cambodia felt like a slightly thicker conditioner and I honestly didn't notice a difference from using just regular drugstore conditioner. The Toni and Guy Hair Mask is in a whole other league. It makes my hair feel soft and smooth, and when I dry it naturally, it sits into nice delicate waves rather than flat and tangly which happens when it's dry. Now I can't claim that it fixes split ends, that's impossible without getting a haircut, but AMAZINGLY it manages to make my split ends so smooth that you can barely see them without heavy inspection with a magnifying glass.

I probably don't need to explain it but in case you're not sure what a Hair Mask IS or it's PURPOSE...here's a quick explanation: it's a thick creamy product which can be used after your usual shampoo/conditioner routine to further moisturise/smoothen/shine previously dry and damaged hair. I find that my hair is particularly dry and prone to split ends so I like to do what I need to in the shower and then apply the mask to the middle-ends of my hair and then leave it in a shower cap for at least 20-30 minutes while I do something such as shave my legs or use a face mask (while walking around the house/bathroom in a towel like an idiot!) and then at the end of that time go back into the shower and rinse it off quickly with cold water (I've heard that closes the hair cuticles but even if that's an old wives tale...it's nice and refreshing!). After that I usually leave my hair to air dry (try to avoid excess heat treatment) and maybe add some Moroccan Oil or Leave-In Conditioner to further enhance the shine and moisture. After that Bob's your uncle and generally I have nice shiny smooth hair!

You may not believe what I'm claiming but coming from someone with hair long enough to tuck into my pants, trust me when I say that this product is a godsend. Try it out for yourself, it's sold at Priceline and most Coles/Woolworths in Australia for around $15. And if you have another hair mask recommendation please let me know in the comments and I'm super keen to try some new ones once this runs out as god knows when I'll next be able to make a hair appointment!

  1. L'Oreal Liss Ultime is another fab hair mask, tames my frizz & makes my hair feel fantastic! Bit pricier than T&G, around $30 from Price Attack so I save it for special occasions or when my hair is dying. Will have to give this one a go!!
