I've ALWAYS loved the
50s in terms of fashion and makeup so I was pretty happy when I found out one of my besties had decided to set "50s" as her birthday party theme! I spent a little time trying to find what makeup / hair would look 50s. It appears that for a 50s look:
- Signature red lip - very neat outline (use lip liner and/or conceal the edges to get a really neat look)
- Defined brow, but not thick.
- Faces are contoured and blush is fairly subtle.
- Eye shadow is light, perhaps pastel or neutral, with defined crease.
- Looks tend to be quite matte as opposed to shiny.
In terms of the
hair, it's commonly curled with a side part away from the face and can be pinned on one side.
Setting hair in curls seemed to be the way to go. I found
this 50s hairstyle tutorial by The Cherry Dollface at the last minute so I tried to follow that.
